Bayer Leverkusen Are Into The Europa League Final!

The unbeaten run continues for the new German champions, Bayer Leverkusen. They made a dramatic comeback last night against AS Roma and eliminated them from the semifinal on a 4-2 aggregate.

Following their heroic 2-0 win in the first leg, Bayer Leverkusen welcomed AS Roma last night at BayArena to play the second leg. Although Roma were in the lead with 2 Goals, Bayer Leverkusen made a dramatic U-turn in the final ten minutes and leveled the scoreline by scoring two late goals. As a result, the German side has booked their place in the final of this competition and extended their unbeaten run to 49 games!

Match Report

Since AS Roma lost the first leg by a 2-0 margin, they needed to win the second leg last night with a minimum of two goals margin. But Leverkusen were very aggressive at their home ground, creating tons of chances. The home side could have taken an early lead, but Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar was brilliant last night and made Some Tremendous saves to deny Leverkusen.

However, Bayer Leverkusen had a massive blow when defender Jonathan Tah made a foul inside the box just before the half time, which earned a penalty kick for Roma. Leandro Parades stepped forward to take the spot kick and made no mistake!

Coming back From the break, Roma earned another spot-kick as Adam Hložek made a handball in the 65th minute inside the box. Parades, once Again Took the shot from 12 yards and scored!

It was A very tense Moment for Bayer Leverkusen, and they seemed to lose this match against Roma. But the drama started in the final ten minutes when Leverkusen got their first goal. In the 82nd minute, Roma defender Gianluca Mancini put the ball into his own net instead of clearing it!

This goal was a massive boost for the home side, leading them the second in the additional time. This time, defender Josip Stanisic found the back of the net in the 90+7 minutes to level the scoreline. In the end, the match ended in a 2-2 tie, which take Bayer Leverkusen into the final with a 4-2 aggregate!

Roma boss Daniel De Rossi shared his thoughts  After the match. "Leverkusen played well - they had many shots on goal, I’m Not denying that. But when you make a comeback and come close to pulling off a miracle, knowing that nobody has beaten them this season, and then concede through a really unlucky goal, the pain is great. That Being Said, we need to move forward with this spirit - We’ve Got other important games on the horizon. We need to dust ourselves down and dig deep for the three remaining games," Said De Rossi.
