English champions Manchester City have created history in Istambul. They finally lifted the UCL trophy for the very first time in their history. Last night, Manchester City defeated Inter Milan by a tiny 1-0 margin at Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, securing their first-ever UCL title. The UCL title completed Man City's treble, as they had previously won the Premier League and the FA Cup. Manchester City are now the only second English side to have a treble after Manchester United. Pep Guardiola is the first manager to win two trebles with two different clubs.

As it happened

At Atatürk Olympic Stadium, Inter Milan and Manchester City were very determined to lift the UCL trophy. Managers from both sides deployed their best possible XI in the final. City boss Pep Guardiola played his team in a 3-2-4-1 formation, while Inter Milan's manager Simione Inzaghi set up the team formation with a 3-5-2. The two sides showed their attacking prowess, but no one could break the deadlock in the first half. Man City had a massive blow in the first half as their midfield maestro Kevin de Bruyne had been subbed off due to an injury. Inter took that advantage and created many chances. But in the end, the first half ended in 0-0. Both Inter Milan and Man City kept the same tempo in the second half. But it was Rodri who drew the first blood as he found the net in the 68th minute for the Citizens. His stunning shot outside of the box beat Milan's goalkeeper to find the net. Conceding the goal, Inter Milan had gone crazy. They desperately seeking for the equalizer. City goalkeeper Ederson made some incredible saves in the final ten minutes to keep the game alive for the Citizens. Inter were a bit unlucky also. Their several shots hit the bar, unfortunately. As the final whistle blew, thousands of City supporters started celebrating the UCL victory.

This final was written in the stars - Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola finally won the UCL after leaving FC Barcelona. He said, “Sometimes it looks like this competition this year, this final was written in the stars. The goal, the chances they had, Ederson’s save where in extra-time you could lose the game." The manager added, “I will be the same person, and we will be the same team and we will be the same Club. Today was our year, but in the past to do it of course we are very satisfied to achieve something unique, the Treble for this club."

We have to be proud - Inzaghi

Inter boss shared his thoughts after the match. "I congratulated the boys because they were great, they played a great game. We lost a final that we wanted to win at all costs, but they should be satisfied." "They were perfect as a team. We played against a very strong opponent, giving up very little. We have many regrets, but we have to be proud. I gave the boys a huge hug as I give it to our fans who have always supported us. It is the fifth final in two years and we must be proud of the path we have taken," Inzaghi added.
