Match Report
Luton Town welcomed Chelsea FC today to play their final game of the year. Luton boss Rob Edwards played his team in an aggressive 3-4-2-1, where Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino set up his team formation with 4-2-3-1. Chelsea's attack was made with Armando Broja, with Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke on his back. As Luton's boss used only three center-backs with two full-backs, Chelsea took that advantage and tried to dominate the home side from the beginning. Due to Chelsea's high press, the Blues got an early lead when Cole Palmer broke the deadlock in the 12th minute. After getting the first goal, Chelsea became more aggressive. On the other hand, Luton Town also started creating chances after they settled down on the pitch. But Chelsea's defense was rock solid in the first half and didn't concede a goal. Meanwhile, the Blues doubled their lead when Noni Madueke found the net in the 32nd minute with the help of Palmer. Relying on them, Chelsea went to the break with a two-goal lead. Chelsea tried to keep the same dominance in the second half. But the home changed their approach after the break and played better football than in the first half. Yet Chelsea managed to score their third goal! This time, Cole Palmer, once again, found the net and made the scoreline 3-0 with his brilliant brace. It seemed Chelsea would easily win this game, but the scenario started changing in the final 15 minutes. The home side could get their first goal in the 76th minute, but VAR ruled it out due to an offside. Despite being disallowed, Luton Town believed they could score more. That is what exactly happened in the following ten minutes. In the 80th minute, Luton Town got their first goal when Ross Barkley found the net with an assist from Doughty. The home team, made the match more interesting when they scored another one in the difference of seven minutes. This time, Elijah Adebayo scored a fantastic goal for Luton in the 87th minute, giving a lifeline to the home fans. Luton Town became so desperate to find the equalizer and created some important chances. But Chelsea, somehow, survived as their defense made no further mistakes in the remaining minutes. As a result, Chelsea won the match by a 3-2 margin at Kenilworth Road to end the year.Related reading
