Winning Run Continues For Bayer Leverkusen

German club Bayer Leverkusen are living in their dream. After winning their first-ever league title in the Bundesliga, manager Xabi Alonso is heading his side towards another trophy this season. Last night, they smashed Italian side AS Roma in the first leg of the Europa League semifinal away from home. 

Due to their constant losses, Bayer Leverkusen once was criticized with the nickname "Neverkusen." But this German club has already created their own history under the magician Xabi Alonso. Bayer Leverkusen is the only team in Europe that Hasn't Tasted a defeat this season so far! 

With their stunning win over AS Roma, Bayer Leverkusen have extended their unbeaten streak to 47 matches.

Match Report

Roma boss Daniele De Rossi set up the team formation with his classic 4-3-3, where Romelu Lukaku led the frontline with Paulo Dybala and Faraone. Meanwhile, Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso played his team in a moderate 3-4-2-1 formation, using three CBs with two wing-backs.

The match started with both sides playing aggressive football. AS Roma could have taken an early lead if Romelu Lukaku's Header Didn't Hit the post. But Bayer Leverkusen soon Made themselves Stable on the pitch and tried to set up a counterattack. 

The Biggest Chance came for Bayer Leverkusen when Roma defender Rick Karsdorp made a wrong pass, which Alex Grimaldo stole and passed towards Florian Wirtz. Florian Wirtz, however, Didn't Miss that opportunity and gave Leverkusen the important lead in the 28th minute. 

The two sides, however, had plenty of opportunities to score but failed to convert. As a result, the Bayer Leverkusen went to the break with a one-goal lead.

The second half was also full of attacks between the two sides, but It was Leverkusen who Scored again at Stadio Olimpico. This time, Robert Andrich made it 2-0 with a stunning goal outside From The box. This goal secured a important win for Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of the semifinal.

However, Daniel De Rossi still thinks his side can turn around in the second leg and Can Reach the final. “Football is made up of episodes. It would be unfair to point the finger at a mistake today when in other games, maybe We’ve Emerged victorious due to mistakes or moments of imprecision by others. That’s Part and parcel of the game. We’ll Get through this together. We still have the away leg to come,"  Said the Roma manager in the post-match reaction.
