Match Report
Last night, Chelsea hosted the second leg against Borussia Dortmund at Stamford Bridge. In this do-or-die match, Chelsea boss Graham Potter set up the team formation with 3-4-3. He used the two wingbacks, Reece James and Ben Chilwell, with three CBs. On the other hand, Dortmund's manager played his team in a 4-1-4-1 formation. Chelsea's manager placed more emphasis on the midfield, whereas Dortmund's manager focused more on the attack. However, the match started with both sides playing attacking football from the beginning. But the visitors tried to dominate the home team, keeping more possession under their control. Meanwhile, Chelsea eventually started creating chances, and it took 43 minutes for the home team to score the first goal of the match. Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute as he found the net with a stunning shot. As a result, Chelsea went to the break with a one-goal lead. Coming back from the break, the home side was awarded a penalty kick as Dortmnd's defender Wolf made a handball inside the box. Kai Havertz took that shot and missed it on his first attempt. But the penalty was given again after the VAR check as Dortmund's keeper crossed the line before Havertz took the shot. However, Havertz once again took that kick, and he didn't miss this time. Therefore, Chelsea had taken a 2-1 lead on aggregate. After that, Borussia Dortmund tried hard and fought for their lives to score one. But Chelsea defended very well and didn't concede any. In the end, Chelsea won the second leg by a 2-0 margin and qualified for the quarterfinal on a 2-1 aggregate.Related reading
