Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, and Serge Gnabry played just behind the striker. At the same time, Leipzig's manager played his team in a 4-2-2-2. The match started with both sides playing very aggressively. But RB Leipzig surprised the home team at the very beginning of the game. His heroic hattrick secured the victory for RB Leipzig and earned the first trophy of the new season.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is very disappointed by the defeat against RB Leipzig. “We’re disappointed. We created chances in the first half and then conceded simple goals at the other end," the manager said. Thomas Tuchel added, "The discrepancy between the form, the mood, and what we see out on the pitch is big. The willingness, enjoyment of play, form, and condition we played with in the friendly matches has nothing to do with how we played today.”
