As it happened
The opening game of the IPL 2023 was between Chennai Super Kings VS Gujarat Titans. Both sides met again, but now in the final of the IPL. Although Gujarat defeated Chennai in the opening game, Chennai Super Kings took revenge in the grand finale. MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, won the toss and decided to bowl first at Narendra Modi Stadium. So, Gujarat Titans started their batting innings with Wriddiman Shaha and Shubman Gill. The two batters were determined to get a good start against the CSK. They made a brilliant partnership of 67 runs in the opening wicket. However, Ravindra Jadeja broke their partnership by taking the wicket of Shubman Gill in the 6.6 overs. But Wriddiman Saha played a vital role for the Gujarat Titans. With Sai Sudharshan, Wriddiman Saha led the team toward a massive score. They picked up 64 runs together before Wriddiman Saha departed the crease in the 13.6 over. However, the opener scored 54 off 39 balls before leaving the crease. On the other hand, Sai Sudharshan was out of the world against Chennai Super Kings. He was super aggressive between the wickets, picking 96 runs only from 47 balls. Relying on his bat, Gujarat Titans scored a massive 214 runs in 20 overs. After Gujarat's innings, the rain delayed the match. Using the DLS method, the Chennai Super Kings' target was 171 in 15 overs when the match started. Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway had a solid start for Chennai Super Kings. They added 74 runs together in the opening partnership. But Chennai Super Kings went under pressure when they lost two of their openers in the 7th over. Gujarat's bowler Noor Ahmed picked up the two batters in the 7th over. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube tackled the disaster. Rahane scored 27 from 13 balls, while Shivam Dube added a quick 32 off 21 balls. But the match was under the control of the Gujarat Titans. In the final over, Chennai needed 13 runs. Mohit Sharma bowled the last over, and initially, he did well. Mohit Sharma conceded only three runs from the first four balls. It seemed very difficult for the CSK to pick ten more runs from the final two balls. But Ravindra Jadeja made it. He smashed a six and a four in the last two balls to secure the victory for Chennai Super Kings. https://twitter.com/IPL/status/1663277399537238017?s=20Related reading
