Match Report
Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first in the 3rd game of the series. But they failed to make a good start as they lost their first wicket in the 5th over. The top order collapsed drastically as Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Tanzim Hasan Shakib frequently dismissed the Afghan batters. Only Ibrahim Zadran continued to accelerate the scoreboard, while a small contribution from Mohammad Nabi and Allah Ghazanfar helped the Afghan post a total of 190 runs. Ibrahim Zadran scored the highest 95 runs for the home side. Zadran said, "It hurt me a lot (on missing out on the hundred), but my focus on trying to give my 100 percent for the team. Whenever we (with Gurbaz) bat together, we trust each other and back each other. We enjoy batting a lot. I was trying to execute whatever I learnt from the practice and tried to apply myself." However, the target was very achievable for Bangladesh, yet they made it pretty challenging from the first over. Bangladesh lost their first wicket in the first over as Azmatullah Omarzai picked up Tanzid Tamim in zero runs. Saif Hasan tried to build a partnership, but none could support him. When Saif returned to the pavilion after being caught out with 22 runs, the batting order collapsed within a few overs. Although Towhid Hridoy seemed confident after hitting a few boundaries, Rashid Khan bowled him out in the 17th over. Afghan spinner Rashid Khan alone picked up five wickets for Afghanistan and wrapped up Bangladesh in just 109 runs. As a result, the Afghan won the match by 81 runs and completed the whitewash against Bangladesh. Bangladesh ODI captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz talked after the match, and he accepted the result. Miraz said, "We have to accept that we have not been playing well. They are a good bowling unit and we need to handle ourselves better with the bat. We are going to play against West Indies later and we are a bit worried about our batting. We have to take responsibility at the top of the order and need to see how we can get better."Related reading
