Nottingham Forest will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the City Ground on Saturday as both teams search for their first Premier League victory of the new season. Tottenham are already under pressure after a very poor start. Spurs suffered through a difficult 2025/26 campaign, when they spent much of the season near the bottom of the table. There was hope that things would improve this time around under Roberto De Zerbi, especially after major changes to the squad during the summer. However, their opening two league matches have brought more disappointment.
Spurs started the season with a heavy 3-0 defeat away to Brentford. They then returned home hoping for a response against Newcastle United, but another disappointing performance ended in a 2-0 defeat. As a result, Tottenham have lost both of their opening Premier League games, conceding five goals and failing to score. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest have also had a difficult beginning to the campaign, but there were positive signs in their most recent match. Oliver Glasner's side started the league season with a 1-0 home defeat against Leeds United before losing 2-0 to the same opponent in the EFL Cup.
Forest then produced a much better performance away against Liverpool. They twice took the lead at Anfield before eventually settling for a 2-2 draw. Although Forest could not hold on for all three points, their performance against Liverpool should give them confidence ahead of Tottenham's visit.
Stats & Facts
- Nottingham Forest have won each of their last 4 Premier League clashes against Spurs dating back to December 2024.
- Over that four-game winning run, Forest have completely dominated the scoresheet, outscoring Tottenham by an aggregate of 9–1.
- Nottingham Forest also completed the league double over the Spurs last season.
- Tottenham Hotspur failed to score a single goal in their last two meetings with the Forest, where Nottingham Forest netted 6 goals in those two games.
- At City Ground, the Spurs have won only 3 of their 8 league games against Nottingham Forest and lost 4.
- The Spurs have conceded five goals in their first two Premier League matches this season.
Team News
Tottenham Hotspur have signed Mykhaylo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo on deadline day. This duo is eligible to play tomorrow, but it is unlikely to see their debut in this match. Meanwhile, the Spurs will miss the service of Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons, and Dejan Kulusevski due to their respective injuries. Savio and James Maddison have recovered, but it is also uncertain whether they will have game time against Nottingham Forest.
As for the home team, they have completed the signing of Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace. Munoz has already made his impact on the pitch and will lead the attack along with Gibbs-White tomorrow against the Spurs. But Nicolo Savona and Ibrahim Sangare are likely to miss the game due to their injuries.
Possible Lineup for Nottingham Forest:
Sels; Milenkovic, Cunha, Murillo; Munoz, Schlager, McAtee, Williams; Gibbs-White, Ndoye; Jesus
Possible Lineup for Tottenham Hotspur:
Kinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Tonali, Bentancur; Porro, Fernandes, Tel; Marmoush
Prediction: Nottingham 2-1 Tottenham
Recent meetings between these two teams will provide Forest with another reason to believe they can win on Saturday. Forest have beaten Tottenham in each of their last four Premier League meetings. Morgan Gibbs-White could once again be one of the most important players for the home side. His ability to find space and create opportunities could cause problems for a Tottenham defence that has already conceded five league goals this season. For Spurs, the biggest concern is their lack of goals. They have attacking quality in the squad, but they have yet to find the net in the Premier League. De Zerbi needs his attacking players to be much more clinical, while the team must also avoid the defensive mistakes that have hurt them in the opening two games.
