"I want to thank my family, everyone close to me, for their patience. I want to thank my second family, the players. I want to thank (AC Milan head coach Stefano) Pioli and his staff for the responsibility you have given me. I want to thank the managers for the opportunity." Finally, Ibrahimovic announced his retirement. He said, "But most important of all: From my heart I want to thank you fans. You welcomed me with open arms, you made me feel at home. I will be a Milan fan for life. The time has come to say goodbye to football, but not to you. I have too many emotions that are passing through me. See you around, if you're lucky. Forza Milan and goodbye." Zlatan was in tears when he announced his retirement. In a press conference, Ibra talked about that moment. He said, “People think Ibra is Superman. Well, I am Superman, but I also have a big heart. I was looking around, trying to find a face that would give me strength, but everyone was crying! I looked at the players, they were crying. The fans were crying. I looked to my wife, I thought she’ll give me the strength to keep it together, but then she was crying more than anyone.” However, the Sweden international started his professional career at Malmo FF in 1999. Two years later, he joined the Dutch club FC Ajax. He has also played for top European clubs, including FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Manchester United.
