Match Report
Chelsea FC welcomed Arsenal last night at Stamford Bridge to play the London Derby. Chelsea were desperate to win big matches after a difficult start in the league. Before the match against Arsenal, Chelsea won their last two games in a row. However, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino played his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation, where Cole Palmer was in the center of the attack. Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk were in the wide flanks, whereas Gallagher was in the middle. On the flip, Arsenal boss Mike Arteta deployed his team in a classic 4-3-3 formation. There was a doubt over Bukayo Saka and William Saliba's fitness, but they both started against Chelsea. However, the game started with the home side getting an early lead. In the 12th minute, Arsenal defender William Saliba made a handball inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick to Chelsea. Cole Palmer stepped forward to take the kick and made no mistake! Thus, Chelsea took the lead early in the game at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal, conceding a goal, became desperate to find the leveler. They highly pressed the home side but failed to score. As a result, the first half ended in Chelsea's 1-0 lead over Arsenal. Chelsea's performance was also electrifying in the second half. The Blues didn't take much time to score in the second half. In the 48th minute, Chelsea doubled their lead as Mykhailo Mudryk scored a stunning goal for the Blues. It seemed Chelsea could give Arsenal the first taste of defeat. But the Gunners made a dramatic comeback in the final 20 minutes. In the 77th minute, Chelsea keeper Sanchez made a terrific error as he passed the ball to Declan Rice. Rice didn't take time and shot from a distance, which found the net! Arsenal became very aggressive after their first goal. They continuously attacked in the final ten minutes and earned another goal. Leandro Trossard, who came off the bench in the 78th minute, made his mark within six minutes. He scored the equalizer in the 84th minute with the help of Bukayo Saka. After that, both sides created some important chances but failed to score. As a result, the match ended in a 2-2 tie at Stamford Bridge.Arteta on 2-2 Tie
Arsenal boss Mike Arteta shared his thoughts on this tie. “The first 10 or 15 minutes, we weren't at the level of intensity required in a London derby. There was not enough purpose with the ball, and not enough determination to win the ball when there were many situations to win it. That cost is that we have to defend open space against one of the best teams in the world doing that," Arteta explained.Related reading
