Chelsea will look to continue their winning momentum when they travel to Merseyside to face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday. The Blues are coming off an impressive 5-1 victory over Bournemouth, but their poor away record against Everton suggests they could face a difficult afternoon. Both teams have collected 10 points from their opening six league matches, with Everton sitting fifth in the standings, one place above Chelsea.
Everton have yet to lose a Premier League match this season. They have made a solid start to the new Premier League season under David Moyes. The Toffees have recorded two victories and four draws from their opening six matches, making them one of the few unbeaten teams in the competition.
On the other hand, Chelsea enter the match in good spirits following their convincing 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Joao Pedro and Jordan Henderson scored twice each, while Morgan Rogers also got his name on the scoresheet. The victory ended Chelsea's three-match winless run in the Premier League and provided a much-needed boost for Xabi Alonso's side.
Stats & Facts
- Everton are unbeaten in their opening six Premier League matches this season, recording two victories and four draws.
- Both Everton and Chelsea have collected 10 points from six matches.
- Everton have won six of their last nine home Premier League matches against Chelsea, losing only once during that period.
- Chelsea have failed to score in seven of their previous nine Premier League away encounters against Everton.
- Everton defeated Chelsea 3-0 in their most recent home meeting in March 2026.
- The two teams have faced each other 196 times in all competitions. Chelsea have won 78 matches, Everton have recorded 60 victories, and 58 games have ended in draws.
- Chelsea have gone 22 Premier League matches without keeping a clean sheet, highlighting their ongoing defensive concerns.
Team News
Chelsea captain Reece James will miss the match due to an injury. Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed, "He [James] wanted to have a good start after the international break, but in the last training session he picked up an injury." Emmanuel Emegha and Jamie Gittens are also out of the team due to their respective injuries. However, the rest of the players are fit and ready to fight for the three points.
As for Everton, Vitaliy Mykolenko missed the game against Hull City last week, and he is still unavailable for tomorrow's game. Jarrad Branthwaite will replace him and form up with Michael Keane, James Tarkowski and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to protect their defense.
Possible Lineup for Everton:
Pickford; Maitland-Niles, Tarkowski, Keane, Branthwaite; Garner, Armstrong; Johnson, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Barry
Possible Lineup for Chelsea:
Martinez; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Caicedo, Henderson, Chavarria; Palmer, Rogers; Joao Pedro
Prediction: Everton 2-2 Chelsea
The Blues have scored 15 goals in their opening six league matches, demonstrating their attacking potential. However, their defensive performances have been less convincing. Chelsea have struggled to keep clean sheets, and their defensive weaknesses could become a problem against an Everton side that has shown strength throughout the season. Everton's unbeaten start to the season and their impressive recent home record against Chelsea suggest that Saturday's game could be closely contested.
