Manchester United made an immediate impact, opening the scoring inside two minutes. Bruno Fernandes delivered an accurate corner into the penalty area, where Harry Maguire rose unmarked to head the ball past Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani. United pressed for a second early on, but Milan settled into the contest as the half progressed.
The Italian side found their equalizer in the 37th minute. Debutant striker Gonçalo Ramos controlled the ball inside the box and laid off a pass to Samuel Chukwueze, who finished into the bottom corner. The second half began at a high pace, and United regained the lead in the 51st minute. Following a defensive error from Milan's Filippo Terracciano, Patrick Dorgu capitalized with a clean finish to make it 2–1. However, Milan responded with three unanswered goals in a fifteen-minute spell. Chukwueze turned provider in the 57th minute, picking out Alphadjo Cissè to level the match at 2–2. Eleven minutes later, Chukwueze delivered another accurate cross into the penalty area, allowing Ramos to head home his first goal for the club and put Milan in front for the first time.
Milan sealed the result in the 71st minute. Ramos turned creator once again, feeding Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who struck past Senne Lammens to make it 4–2. United brought on Marcus Rashford for the closing thirty minutes, but they were unable to breach Milan's organized defense again.
The match provided both managers with crucial assessments ahead of their domestic league campaigns. While Michael Carrick's side showed vulnerability in transition during the second half, Milan demonstrated sharp attacking cohesion led by Chukwueze and Ramos. Milan open their Serie A season next weekend against Torino, while Manchester United travel to face Hull City in their Premier League opener.
